Dear Mother and Mildred,
The war is finally over and I am ready to come home. My army camp is really happy and people are celebrating to a great degree. Soldiers are playing, sing songs and eating lots of rations . I heard that Lee's troops were on the run by the overpowering Union army.  Once they set camp, Lee had enough and was ready to negotiate terms for surrender. Lee met general grant at a old house in Virginia. We treated the demolished confederates well by having four terms of surrender. They were twenty five thousand rations for soldiers, soldiers can keep personal items, they give any confederate propaganda and men took oaths to never fight in the confederate army again. I am so happy to see you guys back home.
